CONSTRUCTION PORTFOLIO MARKETING WEBSITE
Carroll Daniel Construction Company (CDCC) came to Toolbox No. 9 (TB9) to help redesign their website and future-proof it for expansion of their business. From workshop through to the final dev handoff of the UI design, I worked with the CDCC’s marketing director and the TB9 team to establish a site that equally represents and helps each of CDCCs Markets. The site has been successful since launch and has gone into additional phases of blog expansion.
UX / UI Design Lead | Toolbox No. 9
Workshop Lead, UX Design, Creative Direction, and Development Hand-off
Duration: 2019 | 3 MONTH
Carroll Daniel Construction Company has a long-established family history in Georgia. With $28 million in annual revenue in 2019, they came to Toolbox No. 9 to help rebuild their website as they looked to expand into new markets and locations. Their growth was aimed at large airports and expanding their reach into international clients. Due to the nature of construction and the long-term partnerships established, the website's main function is validation for clients.
The project started with a workshop focused on IA and wireframing.
In the workshops, we learned markets do not cross-advertise between each other and this could hinder the potential for future business. My team's solution was to layout each market page as a micro-homepage for the content. Resulting in the home page being a summary of services and value propositions, rather than focusing on a collection of work.
Afterward, based on the whiteboard sketches, I created wireframes to be used as a visual reference in a remote content workshop.
I created matching content templates for CDCC stakeholders to use to provide their rough ideas for each market and case studies content. Then I assisted in training the client on how to use both templates to gain insightful information from subject matter experts as CDCC.
The resulting website highlighted CDCC’s main value proposition of excellent and reliable customer service through tedious long projects in any market.
Once all the wireframes were approved and the required functionality was established, I directed my fellow designers in UI direction. I collaborated with them to provide CDCC with 3 concepts based on their brand standards. I worked closely with a contract junior designer leading them in applying the chosen UI concept to the wireframes and establishing a style guide for dev handoff.
